SOUND OFF!//

Okay so I find it quite odd and depressing that I was the only one in the office today making commotion on Obama's visit to Dobson High School in Mesa, Arizona.

I'm only 21.

My colleagues on the other hand, are twice my age.

Maybe if they were a part of this dilemma, they would be anticipating his speech - it clearly laid out what Barack wanted to do to either help already foreclosed homeowners, or those near foreclosure.

Just because you think you're safe doesn't mean it can't happen to you!

Or maybe they're just republican and don't give a s**t.

Another thing that bothers me - many of my friends are all Team Obama.

No, you've got the wrong idea. I'm for Obama. But they're for Obama for all the wrong reasons.

Here's why:
  1. He's African-American. It's outstanding that we finally have a biracial president, but it shouldn't have to be all about the color of one's skin.
  2. Everybody else loves Obama and they like him because it's "trendy."
  3. They think he's attractive.
  4. They want to pretend that they know everything about Obama and politics.

But I'm betting on everything that the only reason why they constantly want to see him or tune is because of those reasons above, and not the mere reason of belief, or change.

I believe in Obama because he's intellectual and will ultimately get us out of the bind we are in now.

I believe in Obama because of his actions (i.e. Stimulus plan) and the viable reasons why he chose to do such things.

I believe in Obama because he's an inspiration, and he represents the true gentleman.

There are many more attributes that make Obama likeable, the fact that he's a family man, the fact that he actually believes in the American people and knows that he's human like everyone else on earth.

I actually listen to this man, and look past all the superficial things that my friends adore him for.

If you're for Obama, than stand beside him and listen to what he has to say and make use of it.

Don't just say you like the man because he's cute and black, or say you like him because your friends do.

Can we can get an authentic opinion for once and not one that sounds the same?

Thanks.

GROOVIN'//

So my views of Quddus have changed - drastically.

I used to think my man Quddus was just another run-of-the-mill VJ on MTV, who was either going to let fame get the best of him, and suddenly disappear (cue in La La Vasquez), or if he was going to switch the game around on itself.

It first started when he campaigned for Obama.

I thought, wow, this guy is really something. He is politically involved, and not just for the publicity or because he wanted to jump on the Obama bandwagon. If you caught a couple of his videos on MySpace or YouTube, you would understand why Quddus became such a likeable guy.

During the campaign he jumped on MySpace Records artist Mateo's "Makin' MySpace," mixtape, which featured popular songs with an added twist of Mateo's own creativeness. Quddus and DJ Felli Fel were hosts on the mixtape, and Mateo also featured quotes from Obama's speeches in a few of his songs.

Here is Mateo's free download of his recent "Makin' MySpace," mixtape.

Spread the word.

We need more genuine artists like these guys - especially in today's run-down industry they call "entertainment."

"WU,"ING THE FIRST LADY//

Here are two photos taken from last night's event on ABC, showcasing the first dance between the President & First Lady.

Also, a recap of Michelle's ensemble worn Inauguration day, as well as a glimpse at her beautiful gown (designed by Jason Wu, who is only 26 years old!) worn at the Neighborhood Ball.

YOU GOT ME...SPEECHLESS//

When you visit the two links below, you'll understand why I'm a true believer, and a true fan, for the wonderful sensation known as Beyoncé.

I'm so proud that she was given the honor of singing a classic for our new President, and what do you know, I was able to grab a version of the performance that's downloadable!

But the real tear jerker is when B is interviewed by Robin Roberts.

Take a look for yourself :]

HISTORY MADE, FASHIONABLY//

I'm very happy with the way the Inauguration went today. It was visually stunning, with the 2 million + people, the American flags attached at the National Mall, the elite of Washington making their entrances.

But what I thought most stunning was Michelle Obama's dress of choice. I also thought it clever of her that she picked a Cuban-born American designer that many of the non-fashion crowd do not particularly know of - Isabel Toledo.

I for one, thought that she would have chosen a more elaborate & glamorous gown. But this one isn't bad at all, in fact, it accomplishes its goal of showing off Michelle's toned and glowing complexion, due to it's bright color contrasted against her skin. Michelle is a beautiful woman in general, but she was very wise in choosing this gown & coat. Although one might think the dress is bland from the picture at right, the material made from the gown is quite interesting and, quite sparkly. And although you aren't able to tell, the dress is visibly layered - with the embellishment on the neckline adding another splash of character to the already simple (but flattering) ensemble.

Praises to the Obama couple and their two beautiful little girls. Your speech at today's event made us believe in the hope that you promised - and this country is already looking forward to a brighter future in these times of dismay.

(Now if only the Corporate office wasn't ridiculous with their internet rules and unblocked media/video so that I'd be able to watch Beyoncé perform at the Inauguration event a couple days ago!)
